Afghan plan "is worth it " 29/03/2006

The ‘benefits’ of deploying 3,300 British troops in southern Afganistan will “far outweigh the dangers”, according to NuLab Defence Secretary John Reid. Senior army officers don’t seem to share his rosy view. Lt Col Henry Worsley said the move would provide: “pleanty more targets for insurgents”. He went on to tell the Sunday Telegraph: “You talk about stirring up a hornets’ nest and that probably will happen.”
