Biased article in The Voice 08/02/2006

Pat Harrington has condemned an article published in The Voice on 6th February. Weyman Bennett, Joint-secretary of the anti-racist group Unite against Facism was extensively quoted attacking the Solidarity Trade Union. No Spokesman for Solidarity was offered a Right of Reply. He sought to imply that Solidarity would exclude members on racial grounds. Pat Harrington says:-
“The Solidarity Union does not bar members on account of race, religion, sexuality or political opinion. Let me make that clear. Some have been confused by statements on the BNP website which are explicitly hostile to Marxists but this is simply their ‘take’ on things and is perhaps understandable given the persecution their members have suffered. The whole point of Solidarity, however, is that it is an inclusive Union fighting for workers rights.”
