The British press isn’t exactly keen on George Michael. Yet despite their sniping he remains popular with the public. It was good to see him back at his first solo concert in 15 years. He performed his biggest hits and took a swipe at George Bush.
As he sang his 2002 anti-Bush song Shoot the Dog to 18,000 fans at Barcelona’s Palma Sant Jordi arena, an enormous balloon depicting a caricatured George Bush rose from the stage, to the crowd’s delight. But the real surprise came when Michael leaned down to unzip the balloon’s trousers and out popped a British bulldog draped in a Union Flag and wagging its tail. Great showmanship with a serious message!
