Small change for the low paid 03/10/2006

As of October 1 the minimum wage increases by a less than generous 30p. For workers aged 22 and over it’s now £5.35 an hour. Tony Blair cited the minimum wage in his speech at this year’s party conference as one of Labour’s greatest achievements. We are not impressed. Those under 16 are still at a very low rate and we support the call from the Solidarity Trade Union for the minimum wage to be raised to £6 per hour.
