Reports of mistreatment from our Servicemen and women held by the Iranians made us think. What we thought was ‘Thank God they weren’t being held by the Americans!’ Being called ‘MrBean’ is doubtless insulting. Yet contrast this with what you could expect if held by US forces. Apart from the usual torture you could also expect to be subjected to loud music for hours, even days on end. Heavy Metal is their favourite. Sgt Mark Hadsell of the US army’s Psyychological Operations Company told Newsweek:-
“These people haven’t heard heavy metal. They can’t take it. If you play it for 24 hours, your brain and body functions start to slide, your train of thought slows down and your will is broken. That’s when we come in and talk to them.’
In 2005, former Guantanamo detainee Benyam Mohammed told Human Rights Watch:-
“They hung me up. There was loud music.. then they changed to horrible ghost laughter. Plenty lost their minds.” Get into debt for us, says Labour 20/04/07
The Labour Party are encouraging people to get into debt in order to swell its own coffers. General Secretary Peter Watt sent out a fundraising e-mail urging people to take out a credit card which guarantees Labour a £15 fee.
Labour would benefit ‘regardless of whether you clear the monthly balance or not’, Mr Watt added.
Labour has already raised £2 million through the scheme run by the Co-operative Bank.
