Did the US navy carry out the terror attack on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline?

Germany and Russia were co-operating on Nord Stream 2

According to journalist Seymour Hersh, the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline pipeline which runs under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany was deliberately destroyed by the US Navy in September 2022, causing damage valued at £15 billion and the single largest spill of methane gas ever. The alleged attack was carried out under the guise of a NATO military training exercise known as Baltops 22 in June 2022, where explosives were placed on both Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, which were then remotely detonated. Hersh claims that preparations for the bombing began in December 2021, and the attack was seen as a threat to Western dominance by Washington and its anti-Russian NATO partners.

The smoking gun?

Although US President Joe Biden stated in February 2022 that there would be no longer a Nord Stream 2 if Russia invaded Ukraine, Hersh alleges that the plan was for the options to be executed post-invasion and not advertised publicly. The White House has denied these allegations, with the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland stating that Nord Stream 2 is now “a hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea.”
